Comfort and convenience were top of mind when we created our outpatient cancer center. Patients can have all their appointments and receive their treatments in one convenient location.
The Healing Boutique, located on the first floor of the Roper St. Francis Cancer Center, is open to the public and carries hard-to-find products that can be helpful during cancer treatment. The boutique also has a licensed cosmetologist for professional wig fittings and a certified fitter for post-mastectomy needs.
Patients and visitors can enjoy a healthy meal or just a great cup of coffee at the Cancer Center’s first-floor café.
A cancer diagnosis is life-changing. The goal of the Donna Fielding Cancer Wellness Institute is to support all of our cancer patients’ needs – mind, body and spirit. By offering and coordinating a range of support resources, we augment the medical work of our expert doctors to heal the whole you – not just your cancer. Our resources include dietitians, mental health professionals, social workers, physical trainers and more.
Our outpatient infusion room is filled with natural light and a sense of hope. Every element was designed to ensure the comfort and safety of our patients. The room features relaxing heat and massage chairs as well as personal TVs. Many of the stations overlook our courtyard.
Our exam rooms, nurse’s station, and patient bay areas offer patients comfort and privacy. Our experienced nursing staff works along side our skilled radiation oncologists to screen all patients for health, pain, nutritional, and distress management. At this time, appropriate referrals are made to a New Patient Navigator, Breast Navigator, Nutritionist, Case Manager, Chaplain and Home Health.
This is the middle step of the patient’s journey. Our medical dosimetrists, under the direction of our radiation oncologists, perform calculations and design treatment plans that maximize radiation doses to the patient’s cancerous cells, while minimizing doses to nearby healthy tissues.
Our radiation therapists under the direction of our radiation oncologists are trained in delivering accurate and precise daily treatment. Our sophisticated technology allows the therapist to provide fast and uncompromised treatment to the target area.
RapidArc™, the latest addition in Roper St. Francis Cancer Center’s cancer fighting arsenal, is the fastest radiation technique available and allows treatments to be delivered up to eight times faster than conventional intensity-modulated radiation therapy. The technique is currently used for treating prostate, head and neck, and brain cancer diagnosis.
