Welcome to the Upstate Medical University Simulation Center Virtual 360 tour. The Simulation Center is part of a coordinated network of simulation resources that, together, provide realistic experiential learning for the Upstate Hospital, Universities, and surrounding communities.
The Center, opened in 2019, uses a wide variety of simulation-based tools such as procedural task trainers, high-fidelity manikins, standardized patients, haptics and enhanced reality simulators to help healthcare professionals improve clinical performance and patient safety outcomes.
The lab is an adaptable space with a retractable wall. Hands-on experience through the use of task trainers and feedback enhances the educational experience of our learners. Please click on the information link in this room to learn more about our equipment options and opportunities.
A dedicated learning space, available 24/7, that houses advanced computerized technology for procedure training.
One of two separate debriefing suites. Each suite can be converted into two classrooms.
One of four control rooms. Here instructors and technicians can observe learners, control the manikins, and provide real-time feedback of a patient condition. Video and audio can be live-streamed into any of the rooms within the Center.
All of the patient rooms have functional head walls and patient monitors. As the largest of the patient rooms, the Ward, can be adapted for multiple acute situations such as those found in Emergency Room, PACU, or ICU settings.
Each of the five single bay patient rooms can be adjusted to accommodate most clinical sessions. Here a Physical Therapy Faculty demonstrates how to move a patient from a lift into a wheelchair.
Teamwork and communication skills are vital in preventing adverse patient outcomes in the operating room (OR). This OR is designed to immerse learners in life-like situations with real equipment and high-fidelity surgical manikins.
