Registration Entrance
Welcome to Summerville Medical Center’s Registration Entrance. Patients and visitors can use the free valet parking at this entrance Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm. This entrance is open from 7:00am – 8:00pm.
Patients who arrive between 8:00pm – 7:00am should use the Emergency Department entrance. Expectant mothers who are in labor will receive special “fast-tracked” service to our Labor & Delivery area.
Our first floor is home to our Gift Shop, Pharmacy, Cafeteria and an ATM.
Courtyard
Just a few steps away, our beautifully landscaped outdoor courtyard is the perfect place to read a magazine and get fresh air while waiting to see your loved one.
Women’s Services Family Waiting Room
Our Women’s Services Family Waiting Room, located on the 2nd floor, is a comfortable and relaxing environment for family and friends to wait while at the hospital for a new baby visit. This waiting Room features free WiFi access, cell phone charging stations and a kids play area. Family members are welcome to visit with mom and baby once they move to the Mother/Baby Unit.
Kids Play Area
Our kids play area features a pediatric game projected onto the floor that allows children to use their feet to play and helps prevent the spread of germs.HUGS Baby Safety Security System
For the safety and security of our newborns, Summerville Medical Center is equipped with the HUGS Baby Safety security system that uses unique tamper-proof tags and an alarm system to ensure that the babies stay in the Mother/Baby Unit until it is time to go home.
Labor and Delivery Suite
Our Labor & Delivery suites offer the comforts of home while you are in our care. Our suites were designed with large, comforting spaces, soft colors, pullout sofas, wood cabinets for patient storage, private bathrooms, aquatic laboring bathtubs, 55” HD Apple TVs, and WiFi access. iMobile Technology
All staff carry smartphones with the iMobile technology that gives them instant access to patient vitals and other medical information. With this technology, our team is able to interact immediately to provide our patients with the best care.Wireless Fetal Monitors
Our wireless fetal monitors allow mom to be comfortable and mobile during laboring. She can take a shower and still being able to monitor how her baby is doing.Information and Entertainment
Each patient room features a 55” HD Apple TV and MyCare board that displays important patient information and streams entertainment on one TV. Our patients can see the name of their physician, scheduled tests and more while watching their favorite TV show.
Labor and Delivery Bathroom
Some of our labor suites are outfitted with a large jetted soaking tub to allow relaxation during the laboring process.
Nurses' Station
Our highly skilled nursing staff will be caring for you and your baby while you are a patient at Summerville Medical Center. A button on your bed calls the nurses’ station anytime you need assistance. Our nurses will check on you and your baby regularly throughout your stay with us. We also offer Mom & Baby Quiet Time from 1:30pm – 3:30pm to ensure that you have the opportunity to enjoy quiet bonding time with your baby.
Mother/Baby Unit
After giving birth, mom will move with her baby to a room in our Mother/Baby Unit. All of our Mother/Baby rooms are welcoming spaces designed for bonding with your baby. Each room is private with comfortable furniture, including a pullout couch. Each room features a shower, 55” HD Apple TVs, WiFi access and more. The average length of stay after a vaginal delivery is 1-2 days, and 3-4 days for moms who have a Cesarean birth.

Neonatal ICU
Summerville Medical Center’s Level II Neonatal ICU combines advanced technology and treatments with highly skilled physicians and clinicians for premature and critically ill babies in the Lowcountry. Board-certified neonatologists and pediatricians that specialize in neonatal care provide on-site care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our 16 bed Neonatal ICU is a comfortable, home-like space that allows parents to spend almost unlimited time with their baby and provides privacy for breastfeeding.

Surgical Family Waiting Room
Our Surgical Family Waiting Room, located on the 1st floor, is a comfortable and relaxing environment for family and friends to wait while at the hospital. Our Family Waiting Room features free WiFi access, cell phone charging stations, and a kids play area. Family members are welcome to visit their loved one after their surgery once they move to the Ambulatory Care Center (ACC).
