NKS takes great pride in the way we package our material. We use skid moisture barriers, wooden spacers, shrink wrapping and plastic banding.

Material is packaged and ready to ship. Our packaging includes shrink wrapping to help ensure the coils don’t shift in transit.
Packaging
Multiple skids are shown with coils being packaged for shipment. Our standard packaging consists of custom designed skids, with moisture barriers, wooden spacers and shrink wrapped coils.
Light Gauge 12" Slitter
The 12” Yoder slitter can slit material as light as 0.002”, in widths as narrow as 0.187”, and also rewind material on 6”, 12”, 16” and 20” IDs. It is equipped with shimless tooling with a certified width tolerance of +/- 0.00040”.
Heavy Gauge Slitter
The 18” Reusch slitter can slit material up to 0.135” thick, in camber free widths as narrow as 1”.
Packaging and Shipping Department
Our material is packaged with custom skids, moisture barriers, wooden spacers and shrink wrap, to withstand any potential shipping damage.
Packaging Capabilities
Our packaging capabilities include shipping “eye-to-the-sky” or “eye-to-the- side” depending upon the customer’s requirements.
Packaging Horn
Coils are placed on the small coil packaging horn to be tranferred to the pack- aging line. The coils are then banded and skidded for final packaging.
24" High Speed Slitter
This is a Braner 24” high speed, turret head slitter, designed to slit a wide range of material to the same precision tolerances as our 12” slitter.

Large Coil Packaging Line
Coils coming off of our 52” slitter are packaged separately from those slit on our smaller machines.
Master Coil Storage Bay
We stock master coils up to 30,000 pounds, in widths up to 52” wide. Our diversified vendor base ensures that we have the highest quality material for any application.

Bridge Crains
At the NKS Des Plaines facility there are three overhead bridge cranes. The largest crane has a fifteen ton lifting capacity.
52" High Speed Slitter
This is a 52” Braner high speed slitter, with a 20’ pit and shimless tooling. The turret head design increases operational efficiency with a fast and smooth transition between jobs.
Restock Inventory Rack System
Our restock is stored in a rack system consisting of 30” high racks, in a narrow aigle configuration that is accessible via front articulated lift truck with a 5,500 pound lifting capacity.
Metallurgical Testing Lab
Our metallurgical lab can test the physical and chemical properties of material samples that are prepared according to ASTM specifications.
