The main security lobby is manned with 24x7x365 on-site security guards and has multiple levels of security where every DRFortress Customer must go through 5 levels of security beginning with the main security lobby to gain access to their IT equipment. \

Customer secure access is possible with DRFortress’ multi-level and multi-factor authentication security design which includes verification via IRIS recognition at both the front entrance and security lobby. In addition, to passing security guard identification verification as an “Authorized Representative”, Customers are issued security access cards that must be used in conjunction with the secondary IRIS recognition system to gain entrance into any of the facility technical areas.

The DRFortress MMR allows all the telecommunication providers to physically connect to one another and exchange data avoiding local loop complications and costs. \

DRFortress is the only colocation data center in Hawaii that has (2) dedicated and diverse fiber paths running into the colocation facility. This redundant network infrastructure design allows unlimited connectivity options, diverse network redundancy and significant costs savings by having the largest concentration of major IP carriers and telecommunication providers in Hawaii.

It is recommended that Customers reserve the conference rooms when needed for pre-planned meetings, sales presentations, or other events to ensure availability. Catering services are available if Customer conference rooms are needed for our Customer’s Company luncheons or special meetings.

This technical area also accommodates one of the largest private custom cages that was designed and built for a Customer’s specific technical requirements.

Pre-configured racks with 42-inch and 48-inch width cabinets are available with customizable power up to 18kW per cabinet. In addition, custom private cages are available for Customers with higher-level security requirements. Similar to other technical areas in the facility, our engineers will assist with the cabinet configuration, placement and racking solutions to accommodate your specific power usage requirements.

Currently, DRFortress has three (3) Caterpillar 1000 kW diesel generators dedicated for Customer critical IT load and two (2) Caterpillar 750 kW diesel generators which support the entire data center facility mechanical load.

The DRFortress facility is the only true carrier neutral facility in the State of Hawaii where Customers have physical network diversity via multiple fiber entry point conduit infrastructure and access to multiple carriers and ISPs including AT&T, Cogent, GTA, GTT, Hawaiian Telcom, HDT, Hurricane Electric, Luhina, Lumen (formerly CenturyLink, Qwest Communications, Level3, & twtelecom), ONATi, PacWave Telecommunications, Sandwich Isles Communications, Spectrum (formerly Oceanic Time Warner), Telstra and several others.
Custom Cages & Private Suites
DRFortress can accommodate Customers with high-level security/compliance requirements or non-standard equipment footprints into private suites or cages. Customized 10-gauge wire woven fencing material is used to construct private cages and are built to meet any Customer specifications including square footage, height, rack sizes, custom power and security access configurations.
Hawaii's Largest Internet Exchange
In addition, the MMR houses the DRFortress Internet Exchange which is Hawaii’s largest exchange allowing Customers to interexchange traffic up to 100 Gbps. The DRFortress Internet Exchange allows all the carriers and Customers in the facility to interexchange and keep all traffic local without having to make physical interconnections between multiple organizations throughout the State.
By having multiple choices for telecommunication providers and Hawaii’s largest Internet Exchange, Customers can benefit from reduced latency, improved flexibility, network optimization, and access to competitive pricing.
Hawaii's Most Reliable Back-Up Power
DRFortress is equipped with a switchgear system designed with redundant comprehensive monitoring and management controllers which handle the primary and protect power feed of two separate transformers. The switchgear system is the backbone of the facility, equipped with the Thomson Power PGC PLC controller designed in a 2N configuration and fully recommissioned in FY 2020. The power utility is sourced from Hawaiian Electric (HECO) from the highly-reliable and redundant Honolulu Airport substation from two separate underground transformer feeds.
High Power Density Capabilities
The 20’ 6” slab to ceiling height allows for the high-power density capabilities along with cold/hot aisle design. Redundant (N+1) electrical infrastructure with power monitoring and management systems that can accommodate any power requirements. 120V, 208V, 208V 3P, 480V 3P and ~48VDC power solutions available as well as customizable power configurations for private cage/suites in Cage 70.
Hot Aisle Containment & Customized Power Configurations
The hot aisle containment design allows for up to 6kW per cabinet in the pre-configured rows and higher power density is available for private cages.
DRFortress ensures continuous reliable power through our redundant (N+1) electrical infrastructure with power monitoring and management systems, high density 150 watts per square foot power deployments, and redundant (N+1) power fed from diverse PDUs. Customers can select custom power configurations for each cabinet including 120V or 220V with single or three phase AC power or DC power as needed for their IT infrastructure.
Iris Recognition
Customers with “Authorized Representative Access” level have access to the facility 24x7x365 without scheduling a visit or without escort to their cabinets. Customers must be pre-registered with authorized access to use the DRFortress IRIS recognition system to gain entrance into front door.
Open Flex Office Work Area
The Open Flex Office Work Areas are available for Customers to use these areas on a first come, first use basis or reserve a dedicated Flex Office Space area for an extended period of time with pre-authorization. The Flex Office Work areas are also equipped with complimentary wi-fi and beverages.
Private Flex Office Space
In addition to having 247x365 access to multiple conference rooms, DRFortress offers 24x7x365 usage of our various private and open flex office space areas throughout the Customer lounge area.
This private Flex Office Space comes with complimentary security card reader access for Customers with extra equipment safe-keeping requirements, wi-fi, television and multi-media usage and beverages.
Redundant Mechanical & Fire Suppresion Systems
Cage 70 is designed and built with redundant (N+1) mechanical HVAC (Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning) infrastructure design with cooling system capacity to support high power density environments, hot/cold aisle cooling design and advanced temperature and humidity monitoring.
In addition, DRFortress deploys advanced fire suppression with multi-zone monitoring and management with dry-pipe pre-action fire detection system, FM200, VESDA and DuraQuench systems in various technical areas.
Secondary Iris Recognition
& Security Access Card Readers
Once an individual is registered as an “Authorized Representative”, they will have 24x7x365 access into the DRFortress facility. However, to gain access into the mantrap and technical colocation areas, an Authorized Representative must pass a dual authentication test via this secondary iris recognition and security card access system.
Security Guard Window
The DRFortress security guards are directly contracted and managed by DRFortress which means that their sole contracted purpose is to provide 24x7x365 dedicated physical security.
Security Guards continuously monitor individuals in the colocation area and perform hourly security walk-thru audits. In addition, CCTV cameras are being monitored and recording all movement/actions in the colocation areas 24x7x365.
Tertiary Iris Recognition Into Technical Area
Past this mantrap door, an Authorized Representative must pass a tertiary iris recognition system which verifies that their equipment is located in the specific technical area which they are trying to access.
As an added measure, the DRFortress security guards are continuously monitoring individuals in the colocation technical areas and will question their actions if attempting to enter unassigned or undesignated areas.
Week+ On-Site Fuel Storage
The 10,000-gallon fuel tank used for on-site fuel storage will back up power generation for over a week. In addition, all generators are equipped with 1,000-gallon fuel day tanks along with automated fueling pumps and filtration systems to keep our fuel conditioned. DRFortress deploys industry best practices to maintain and exercise the entire generation power system.
