Since 1956, SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital has offered the highest level of care, as the country’s only free-standing, non-profit Catholic pediatric hospital.
Located in St. Louis, MO SSM Health Cardinal Glennon, is a member of SSM Health, one of the largest Catholic health care systems in the country. Every year, the hospital provides hope and care to thousands of children with complex medical conditions throughout Missouri, Illinois and beyond.

With access to comfortable seating, bright colors and plenty of natural light, our patients and families can enjoy our kid-friendly atrium complete with a yellow submarine, train, double-decker bus and steam boat.
The playground is designed as a safe space for all kids, including those with special needs. During their hospital stay, patients can play in the log cabin or play golf on the putting greens. Our safe, interactive rooftop playground is a fun, fresh-air environment for kids and their families.
The Anita Sue Gregorich Tranquility Healing Garden offers a peaceful place for families to retreat while their child is being cared for at the hospital. The garden features space for reflection, including several seating areas with beautiful flowers and plants unique to each area. This area will provide a much-needed distraction and stress-free environment for parents whose children are facing serious illness or injury.
The Dan Dierdorf Emergency and Trauma Center at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon is a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center in both Missouri and Illinois. Being a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center means providing the best possible care at every step of an emergency situation. Our affiliation with Saint Louis University School of Medicine means your child receives high-quality, innovative care enhanced by medical education and research.

Visiting the emergency department can be a scary experience for little ones. Our exam rooms not only have the most advanced technology to care for your child, they’re kid-friendly too! Additionally, our Child Life Team helps make our ER and hospital as fun and low-stress as possible!
Our state-of-the-art trauma rooms are fully equipped with the latest supplies and equipment; they are large and roomy to accommodate family members at the bedside to comfort their child.
Having an experienced, multi-disciplinary trauma team makes a difference. SSM Health Cardinal Glennon’s Level I Pediatric Trauma Center recruits and trains emergency medicine specialists through Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
The Dana Brown Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a Level IV NICU (the highest level of care for newborns) that consists of a team of board-certified SLUCare neonatologists as well as a dedicated, exclusively trained team of pediatric specialists, neonatal fellows and more than 200 nurses and 40 nurse practitioners.
The NICU is recognized as a Neonatal Center of Excellence by the American Accreditation Healthcare Commission and is an accredited Center of Excellence for Extra Corporal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO).

Our NICU offers patients and families a secure environment along with comfort, privacy and convenience with 65 all-private rooms. The unit also offers special accommodations for twin babies to remain in the same room, ideal for family bonding. Personalized patient care is a guarantee thanks to a low patient-to-nurse ratio.
The NICU offers a number of conveniences to assist families while their baby is a patient. A lactation consultant is available and moms are able to store their breast milk onsite for their babies use.
A dedicated child life specialist helps families welcome their newborn, provide sibling support. Soothing music, massage therapy and developmental toys are other ways to provide therapy for the tiniest patients while in the NICU.
The pediatric intensive care unit is a multi-disciplinary unit that provides care for infants, children and adolescents who become critically ill or injured. Equipped with the most advanced technology, our staff is specially trained to deliver exceptional care to children and their families.
Doctors and nurses who are certified in pediatric critical care medicine and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are on staff 24 hours a day. Our team is designated as a Center of Excellence with the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization and staff treat patients in our Level I Pediatric Trauma Center.

The 21-bed unit has a large open layout and includes 18 all-private rooms which reduce infection risk and ensure family privacy.
Family-centered care is a main focus of the PICU. We are part of your child’s healthcare team and we want you to take part in your child’s care.
The Costas Center is a day hospital which provides a comfortable setting for children to visit with their doctor and receive prolonged treatments without having to be admitted to the hospital.
In addition to a dedicated child life specialist, we offer a variety of therapy services including dance, music and art therapy. The walls in The Costas Center display the talents of our young artists and tie-in with the underwater theme.

Our kid-friendly rooms are designed to keep young patients calm and comfortable during an exam. Our SLUCare physicians are members of the Children’s Oncology Group, a network of children’s hospitals sponsored by the National Cancer Institute.
The in-patient cancer center includes 22 all-private, state-of-the-art patient rooms with comfortable sleeper sofas in each room so parents can stay overnight with their children. This unit also includes a dedicated blood and bone marrow transplant unit for young patients diagnosed with hematology and oncology diseases.
The Dorothy & Larry Dallas Heart Center offers comprehensive heart care for infants and children with congenital heart defects. Our staff, including SLUCare physicians, treat thousands of patients each year at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon, plus five additional offsite clinics. Because of their dedication and their love for kids, our team provides exceptional care for your child.
Our team provides comprehensive care in all areas of cardiology, including fetal cardiology, pediatric cardiology, interventional cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery and heart transplantation.

SSM Health Cardinal Glennon is home to the region’s only pediatric hybrid cardiac catheterization suite. Having this suite allows for cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons to work together to provide the best possible outcomes for patients. This state-of-the-art suite allows our SLUCare heart experts to diagnose and correct complicated heart problems, in the same room and in one procedure, for safer care and a faster recovery for patients.
Additionally, interventional, diagnostic and electrophysiology studies are also performed in this suite.
Echocardiograms are an ultrasound of the heart and at the Dallas Heart Center, we also have access to a 3D cardiac ultrasound machine that allows physicians to see a patient’s heart in real time.
Our team also provides fetal echocardiograms for patients requiring this test.
The stress test room allows for patients to be evaluated while exercising on a treadmill or a bike. This test helps physicians assess how a patient’s heart works and provides useful information to diagnose and treat the patient. Our testing area is a comfortable space and easily accommodates mom or dad.

Since 2009, SLUCare high-risk obstetrical specialists at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital - St. Louis and SLUCare pediatric specialists at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon have partnered to provide compassionate, advanced care to mothers and their babies.

The nesting room provides a calm, soothing environment and will serve as your “home base” to wait during your visit to the St. Louis Fetal Care Institute. You will meet with a variety of caregivers and specialists who will work with you throughout your pregnancy. Your visit may include testing, such as ultrasound, fetal ECHO and non-stress tests.
During your visit, you will meet with a nurse coordinator who will schedule and arrange your appointments with pediatric and maternal fetal specialists who will be involved with the care of your baby.
Fetal ultrasounds are a routine part of prenatal care and provide important information to our team of nurses, physicians and of course, the parents!
Our ultrasound rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including machines with 3D and 4D capabilities. Our sonographers are experienced in the world of fetal conditions and are accredited by the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine.
We provide individualized care with state-of-the-art imaging technologies in an environment that is safe and pleasant for our patients. From the imaging suites to our waiting room, the Imaging Department is designed to be a calm and inviting environment for patients and families.
Our dedicated team of technologists and SLUCare pediatric radiologists are board-certified with advanced training in their specialty, providing the best possible care, while reducing patients’ exposure to radiation.

We offer two 128-slice CT scanners that provide the safest imaging for children through special dose reduction software. Advanced imaging gives physicians more detailed information than ever before to help determine the best treatment plan for patients.
Our vascular and interventional radiology team provides a minimally invasive way of assessing disease and delivering targeted treatments which allows for a faster recovery. Our equipment and protocols keep radiation exposure as low as possible during the procedure.
Our nuclear medicine suite features the newest technology available in nuclear medicine. This state-of-the-art technology allows the nuclear medicine images and computed tomography imaging to be performed at the same time, resulting in the most precise information for diagnosis.
Knowing that a hospital stay can sometimes be scary, we strive to make sure our patients and their families feel at home in our all-private, spacious patient rooms. Each room has a private bathroom, sleeping accommodations for one to two family members, plenty of storage, TV, DVR player and Wi-Fi.
The surgery waiting room is designed for families to remain close to their children while undergoing surgery. Families wait comfortably and receive text updates from the surgery team as their child progresses through their procedure.
Parents are able to stay with their child until the moment they are taken back to the OR for their procedure.
Our 10 technology-integrated operating suites allow for increased mobility with portable monitors and equipment attached to the ceiling to keep floors clean and clear. The suites are equipped with the latest surgical technology, specifically for minimally invasive procedures, including minimally invasive neonatal surgeries. The suites are equipped with large, flat panel monitors allowing patients to fall asleep to a DVD and also provide surgeons imaging to navigate during surgeries.
Our post-anesthesia care unit is a space designed for patients to recover from their procedure before heading home. Parents are brought back to recovery once their child is awake.
Danis Pediatric Center is a full-service pediatric office located on the campus of SSM Health Cardinal Glennon and treats children, newborn to 18 years old, and provides services from well-baby visits, sick visits and physicals. The center also provides diagnostic services and second opinions for complex cases referred by community physicians and family practitioners.
Danis Pediatric Center is the academic primary care practice of the Department of Pediatrics at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.

Our kid-friendly exam rooms are designed to keep young patients calm and comfortable during their physician exam.
Our practice is a unique blend of patient care, patient education and medical education. Our primary goal is to provide the very best care for your child from infancy through 18 years old.
The Ambulatory Care Clinic provides convenient, follow-up care for more than 60,000 patients each year. Onsite lab, X-ray, audiology and physical, occupational and speech therapy are located within the clinic making it a one-stop-shop for patients and their families. Specialty clinics include plastic surgery, orthopedics, ENT, endocrinology and gastroenterology, just to name a few.
In addition to our main campus, SSM Health Cardinal Glennon offers additional specialty clinics throughout the St. Louis and Illinois.
The first multi-disciplinary autism center in St. Louis, the Knights of Columbus Developmental Center has grown into a team of experts who understand that having a child with special needs can affect many aspects of a family’s life. The Knights of Columbus Developmental Center provides comprehensive diagnosis, intervention, family support and professional education services.
Our multi-disciplinary team provides ongoing, comprehensive treatment for patients and their families in the areas of developmental pediatrics, neurology, psychiatry, psychology, clinical nursing, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, family resources, social services, education coordination, research and support.

Our speech therapists provide a variety of evaluations, as well as therapy. Based on their evaluation, they provide a treatment plan for each child who visits our office.
Our occupational therapist works with children to improve skills that are a part of everyday life, as well as those struggling with sensory issues through evaluations and therapy.
Our physicians provide comprehensive, physical evaluations and follow-up evaluations. Our team of providers – speech therapy, occupational therapy, psychology, physicians, nursing and family resource/education – work together to develop an individual plan to best serve your child.
