Founded in 1950 by Variety Clubs International, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital is South Florida’s only licensed specialty hospital exclusively for children. With nearly 800 attending physicians and more than 475 pediatric subspecialists, the 309-bed hospital nonprofit hospital - known as Miami Children’s Hospital from 1983 through 2014 - is renowned for excellence in all aspects of pediatric medicine and routinely has many programs ranked among the nation’s best by U.S. News & World Report.
The Advanced Pediatric Care Pavilion (APCP) at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital is a six-story, 213,000-square-foot bed tower that houses the hospital’s critical and advanced care units.
The APCP, which opened in 2016, is a state-of-the-art bed tower that houses the hospital’s intensive care units as well as cancer and blood disorders, and neurological specialty units.
Our security team provides families/visitors with a Fast Pass for entry into the APCP tower. This is part of our commitment to the safety and security of those in our care.
This spacious lobby includes a café serving Starbucks coffee products, pastries and snack items. Hospital staff and child-friendly “robots” help direct visitors to their destination.
Our Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) is one of the few pediatric CICUs in the nation and the first dedicated pediatric cardiac unit in the Southeast.
The PICU is the most experienced pediatric and neonatal Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) resource for children with life-threatening heart and lung conditions in the State of Florida, and one of the largest in the nation.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is proud to serve as a regional, national, and international Level III D referral center, receiving critically ill newborns from throughout South Florida, as well South and Central America and the Caribbean.
The Division of Neurosurgery treats young children with complex nervous system disorders.
The Cancer & Blood Disorders Center provides state-of-the-art medical and surgical care to more pediatric cancer patients than any other facility in South Florida.
All guests entering Nicklaus Children's Hospital must present an ID before entering the hospital.
